About mapping to SiteMinder GDS
Map your rates to SiteMinder GDS to send availability, rates, and restrictions to all connected global distribution systems.
When you map a rate, SiteMinder GDS then distributes this information to all connected GDSs (Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo, Worldspan and DHISCO). When a travel agent makes a reservation through any of these GDSs for the mapped room rate, the reservation details are automatically sent back through SiteMinder GDS to your channel manager and any integrated Property Management System (PMS).
This creates a two-way connection: your channel manager sends availability, rates, and restrictions to SiteMinder GDS, and receives reservations back from SiteMinder GDS.
💡 Important: A rate will not be bookable on any GDS until it has been mapped.
Before completing mapping
Create matching room rates in your channel manager and property management system (if integrated) before mapping to SiteMinder GDS. Each rate you want to map needs a corresponding room rate unless you plan to use multi-mapping.
One-to-One mapping
One-to-One mapping links a single GDS rate plan to a single platform room rate:
When to use One-to-One mapping for GDS rates?
Use one-to-one mapping whenever:
You need full control over pricing
One-to-one mapping allows independent pricing for each rate plan, without relying on derivations from a base rate.
Rates have unique restrictions or inclusions
If a GDS rate has specific minimum stays, closed-to-arrival rules, or includes packages like breakfast, parking or special promotions, use one-to-one mapping.
You need separate PMS codes for each GDS rate
With one-to-one mapping, each rate plan’s reservations are delivered to a distinct room/rate code in your PMS, making it easy to track which rate was booked.
You want full reporting clarity
When mapped to their own dedicated rate plan, each GDS rate is reported separately in your PMS and Channel Manager, making performance tracking and revenue analysis more accurate.
How to complete One-to-One mapping?
Go to Distribution > Channels tab.
On the My channels tab, find the SiteMinder GDS channel.
Click on the ellipsis (...) to open the CHANNEL ACTIONS menu.
Select Edit room rates mapping.
Under Mapping status, toggle to select Unmapped.
In the Channel manager column, find the
room rate you want to connect to GDS.
Click Map to SiteMinder GDS in the SiteMinder GDS column.
Complete the required fields in the pop-up window
Repeat the steps, until all of the room rates are mapped for the SiteMinder GDS channel.

About Multi-Mapping
Multi-mapping is the process of linking multiple rates (within the same room category) to a single Platform room rate:
When to use Multi-Mapping for GDS rates?
Examples of using multi-mapping for GDS rates:
Public GDS rate plans of different categories
Map multiple public rates, such as ‘Public Corporate RO Rate’ and ‘Public Government RO Rate’, to a single base rate like ‘BAR RO Rate’ on the Channel Manager and just apply derivations as needed (e.g. –10% for Corporate or Government rates)
Variable GDS negotiated rates linked to BAR
Map negotiated rates, such as ‘American Express RO Rate’ and ‘Nike RO Rate’, to a single base rate like ‘BAR –15% RO Rate’.
Restrictions of Multi-Mapping a Rate Plan:
While multi-mapping is a great way to manage multiple GDS rate plans from a single base rate, there are a few important limitations to keep in mind:
Dependent Pricing
Multi-mapped rate plans follow the pricing of the base rate. Their prices can only be adjusted using a set derivation (e.g. –10%), they can’t be changed independently.
Shared Inventory
All multi-mapped rate plans will share the same availability as that of the base rate. You should never attempt to multi-map to a base rate with a different room type or separate inventories.
Shared Restrictions
Stay restrictions like minimum nights, closed-to-arrival (CTA) and stop-sell settings derive from the base rate and apply to all multi-mapped rate plans.
Not Suitable for Packages or Inclusions
Multi-mapping is intended for rate categories that differ only by pricing logic, not content or inclusions. It typically shouldn’t be used for package rates or plans that have differing inclusions e.g. breakfast.
Reservations Delivered to a Single PMS Code
When multi-mapping is used, reservations from all rate plan variants linked to a single Platform room rate will be delivered to the same room rate code on your PMS. This makes it difficult to tell which specific rate plan was reserved on the GDS, without logging into the SiteMinder GDS extranet directly. Do not multi-map room rates if you need reservations for each GDS rate to be delivered to a distinct PMS room/rate code.
How to complete multi-mapping?
Go to Distribution > Channels tab.
On the MY CHANNELS tab, locate the SiteMinder GDS channel.
Click on the ellipsis (...) to open the CHANNEL ACTIONS menu.
Select Edit room rates mapping
Under Mapping status, toggle to select Mapped or All.
From the Channel manager column, choose the rate plan you want to multi-map to.
Click Map to SiteMinder GDS.
Complete the fields in the pop-up window, using the same process as one-to-one mapping.
Once multi-mapped, you can add derivations such as discounts.
Click Save.
Repeat the steps, until all of the room rates are mapped for the SiteMinder GDS channel.
Video Guide:
After completing mapping
Update your inventory so that availability, pricing, and restrictions sync correctly and your rate is bookable on the GDS.
If you have a property management system:
Map the new room rate to your PMS.
Initiate a 'push' of all inventory from your PMS to the channel manager. This push is critical to ensure the most up-to-date pricing, availability, and restrictions are sent through. If you're unsure how to do this, contact your PMS provider.
If you do not have a property management system:
Update rates, availability, and restrictions on your SiteMinder platform's inventory grid. By default, no restrictions are set for each new channel you connect your room rate to.
⚠️ Important: You must manually set any required restrictions (for example, stop sells) for the SiteMinder GDS channel after mapping rates.
