Update rates, availability, and restrictions in the inventory grid

How to update rates, availability, and restrictions on your SiteMinder platform's inventory grid.

Updated over 4 months ago

If you have a property management system (PMS), central reservations system (CRS), or revenue management system (RMS), make all inventory updates in your PMS/RMS/CRS. Do not make any manual updates in your SiteMinder platform.

Set up and manage rates, availability, and restrictions (stop sell, minimum and maximum length of stay, closed to arrival; CTA, closed to departure; CTD) via the inventory grid. Go to Distribution > Inventory.

For ad-hoc updates, simply update each cell individually in the inventory grid, or use the Copy tool. For bulk updates, you can either use the Bulk update button or the lightning button.

Bulk update rates, availability, or restrictions

To change rates, availability, or restrictions across multiple dates, room rates, and channels, you can make a bulk update.

  1. Go to Distribution > Inventory > click on the Bulk update button.

  2. In the Set drop-down menu, select the inventory you want to update (for example rates, availability, or restrictions such as stop sell or minimum length of stay).

  3. In the To field, set what the new rate, availability, or restriction should be (for example, enter the new rate, or enable or disable the stop sell).

  4. Select a Date range. To select more than one range, click on the Add another date range button.

  5. Select the date range and what days of the week the update should apply to.

  6. Tick the room types, room rates, or channel rates you want to update.

  7. Tick the channels that you want to update in the Channels column.

  8. Click Save.

Update one rate, availability, or restriction across multiple dates

If you only need to update rates, availability, and restrictions for one room type, room rate, or channel rate, but want to bulk update multiple dates, use the lightning button.

  1. Go to Distribution > Inventory.

  2. Find the inventory and date you want to change and click on the lightning button (for example if you want to change the availability for your “Double room type”, click on the lightning button next to the availability for this room type).

  3. In the Quick bulk update window, set the new rate, availability, or restriction.

  4. Select the date range and what days of the week the update should apply to.

  5. Click Save.

Copy rates, availability, and restrictions

To copy rates, availability, and restrictions to other room types, room rates, or channel rates across multiple dates (that are visible on the page) in your inventory grid, use the Copy tool:

  1. Go to Distribution > Inventory.

  2. Click on the current value you want to change and enter a new value.

  3. Click on the Copy button and select the update you want to make (for example, Copy across, or Apply rate row to other rates).

  4. Click Save.

With the Copy tool you can:

  • Copy [update] across — copy availability, rates, or restrictions across the row for multiple dates.

  • Copy availability to other rooms — copy availability to all other room types for the date.

  • Apply selected [update] to other rates — apply rates or restrictions to other room rates/channel rates that belong to the same room type/room rate.

  • Apply [update] row to other rates — copy the entire row of the rate or restriction to other room rates/channel rates that belong to the same room type/room rate.

Note:

  • Derived rates will be greyed out as they cannot be manually changed in the Inventory grid. When attempting to update a derived rate, the mouse will show a forbidden icon. When you update a manual rate via the Inventory grid, all its derived rates will be updated accordingly.

  • If a channel (OTA) does not support certain inventory updates, you will need to set up and manage those inventory updates directly in the channel’s extranet. For example, if the channel does not support receiving CTA or CTD restrictions, you will need to set up any CTA or CTD restrictions directly on the channel’s extranet.
