Important to know:

  • Before your property will display on Google Hotel Ads, Tripadvisor, or Trivago, you need to create a profile on each metasearch site directly (a Google Business, Tripadvisor, and Trivago profile). Your property details on each metasearch profile must match your property details on your SiteMinder platform (i.e. property name, address, etc.).

  • Once setup has been completed, it may take up to two weeks before your listings are live on Google Hotel Ads, Trivago, and Tripadvisor.

  • You must reconcile your Demand Plus reservations at the end of each month to prevent being charged commissions for cancellations and no-shows.

First steps

Verify your property listing

Before your property will show on Google Hotel Ads, you will need to create a Google Business profile. Your property details on your Google Business profile must match your property details in your SiteMinder platform.

Likewise, before your property will display on Tripadvisor or Trivago, you will need to create a profile and ensure your property details match the details in your SiteMinder platform.

To ensure your property is listed correctly and visible on the metasearch sites, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your SiteMinder account.

  2. Click on your property name in the navigation bar.

  3. Go to Property Settings > Property Details and check that your property name and address is correct.

  4. Log into your meta accounts (e.g. Google Business Profile, Trivago or Tripadvisor).

  5. Check your property name and address match the details provided in your SiteMinder account.

Note:

  • To be eligible on Google, your property must be listed in the 'Hotel property category' (e.g. a hotel, motel, bed and breakfast, etc) on your Google Business profile.

  • To be eligible on Trivago, your property must be listed in the ‘Accommodation’ category on your Trivago profile.

  • To be eligible on Tripadvisor, your property must be listed in the 'Hotels' category on your Tripadvisor profile.

Confirm that your direct booking rates are set up correctly

Follow the steps below to check that your direct booking rates are correct.

  1. Go to Direct booking > Direct booking rates.

  2. Check that your rates are added to your direct booking engine, and ensure the details are correct.

  3. If necessary, add rates to your direct booking engine and/or edit your direct booking rates.

To see all of the rates that are not added to your direct booking engine, select Not added in the Show rates by status filter.

Configure taxes according to your local laws and regulations

Follow the steps below to configure taxes in accordance with your local laws and regulations. (This can also help save you money, as Demand Plus commissions are charged based on the reservation amount excluding taxes.)

  1. Go to Payments > Taxes.

  2. Configure taxes and service charges according to your local laws and regulations. (We recommend consulting a local tax authority or accountant to ensure your setup is compliant.)

Following and ongoing tasks

Check your listings on the metasearch sites

Once your listings are live on Google Hotel Ads, Trivago, and Tripadvisor — which may take up to two weeks — check they are displayed correctly, including their room rate, taxes, and surcharges.

Reconcile your reservations at the end of each month

Each month, we will e-mail you a friendly reminder to reconcile any reservations that were cancellations or no-shows — you must complete these before the 7th day of the following month to prevent being charged commissions for them.

Customise your booking engine

We recommend you configure cancellation and modification settings to determine when guests can cancel or modify their reservations, as well as any consequent penalties.

To give your guests a good first impression, customise your booking engine to reflect your property’s branding.
