Extras: introduction

An extra is any product or service that your property offers in addition to a reservation. You can create extras (optional extras or mandatory extras) for your Booking Engine, of which will be shown during the booking process.

Extras are a great way to generate additional revenue, and can include breakfast, tours, airport transfers, massages, snacks and hampers, helicopter rides, scuba diving trips, and so on.

💡 You can choose to offer extras for product or services that your property provides directly, or through partnerships with local businesses. Partnerships with other businesses can be mutually beneficial: you offer your guests their services or products in exchange for them doing the same with their customers so that you both have the opportunity to increase revenue.

Types of extras (Category)

  • Per booking — the extra is charged once per reservation.

➕ For example, charging for a late check-in or a late check-out.

  • Per person per night — the extra is charged per person, per night.

➕ Meals (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) are the most common Per person per night extra. This could be an optional or mandatory extra.

  • Per room — the extra is charged per room, per reservation.

➕ For example, you could offer a "honeymoon special" rate plan with Per room extras such as a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, or a romantic tour to a nearby attraction.

  • Per room per night — the extra is charged per room, per night.

➕ A popular Per room per night extra is housekeeping.

  • Per person — the extra is charged per person, per reservation.

➕ For example, you could offer a Per person extra for a massage at your property 's day spa.

    • Selected date only — the date range the extra is available.

  5. Select the room rates you want to assign the extra to.

💡 The Selected date only option is useful for extras that are only available for a certain period, such as seasonal extras (for example, tickets to a waterpark that is only open during summer).
