Overview
When channels sell the same room in different ways (like package, derived, or corporate rates), you need to map all these different rate types to a single rate in your platform.
Some rate types such as package, derived, and linked rates do not support any inventory updates because they inherit pricing and restrictions from a main rate managed by the channel. You still need to map all rate types to ensure reservations booked on these rates are delivered and inventory is updated across connected systems, preventing overbookings.

When to use multi-mapping
Map multiple channel rates to one rate in your platform only when they refer to the same physical room type, when a channel sells different versions of the same room rate.
➕ Example: You have one "Standard double room" in your platform, but Expedia sells this as:
Standard double room - SellRate - Hotel Collect
Standard double room - Package - Expedia Collect
Standard double room - Linked - Expedia Collect
Standard double room - Derived - Expedia Collect
Instead of creating multiple rates, map all these variations to your single "Standard double room" rate.
Remember: All rate types need to be mapped to reduce risk of overbooking and to ensure reservations are delivered correctly.
⚠️ Expedia (ETP) exception: For Expedia properties using the Expedia Traveller Preference (ETP) program, whether you map both Hotel Collect and Expedia Collect separately depends on your Use ETP derived rate mapping setting. If it is enabled, map both payment rates separately. If it is disabled, map one payment type only, as a single mapping delivers reservations for both. All other rate types (package, derived, and linked) must still be mapped. See Map to Expedia.
When to map rates individually
⚠️ Important: Do not map multiple channel rates to one platform rate if they represent different physical room types.
You should not use multi-mapping — instead map rates individually if they have:
Different room types: Never map a single platform room (e.g. "Double Room") to two different channel room types (e.g. "Double Room" AND "Twin Room"). The channel will assume you have double the inventory, causing overbookings
Different inclusions: Such as one rate including breakfast and another without
Different pricing structures: If the rates require different base prices.
Different availability requirements
Incorrect multi-mapping can lead to overbookings, wrong pricing, and missing extras.
Map multiple channel rates to one rate
Follow these steps for each channel rate you want to map to the single rate in your platform:
Go to Distribution > Channels.
Find your channel in the My channels tab.
Click the ellipsis button (three dots button) > select Edit room rates mapping.
In the Channel manager column, click on the rate to map.
Click the Map to [channel] button.
Click Yes for Start updating channel to begin updating rates, availability, and restrictions.
Click on the Mapped to drop-down menu then select the channel rate.
Click Save.
Repeat for each additional channel rate you want to map to this same platform room rate.
Note: Additional rate types (such as package, derived, or linked rates) will not appear in the Unmapped filter once a rate is mapped. To find them, click the rate in the Channel manager column and select Map to [channel name], then choose a different rate type from the dropdown.
💡 For rates mapped to the same platform rate, ensure the pricing setup is Derived and set to Keep rates the same, as different prices or restrictions under the same rate can cause sync issues.
⚠️ Linking availability across different room types is not supported. Each room type manages its own availability independently. If you need multiple booking options to share availability, set them up as separate rate plans under a single room type instead.
