Map your room rates to your channels in Distribution > Channels to send and receive inventory updates and reservations. This prevents overbookings and missed reservations.
Before mapping to a channel
Create room rates in Rooms and rates > Rate plans
Create matching room rates in your channel's extranet
Check:
Check what inventory types the channel rate supports before mapping. Not all channels or channel rates support every inventory update type
Channels may sell the same room in multiple ways (for example, as a standard, package, derived, or linked rate). Each rate type on the channel must be mapped to a single rate in your platform to ensure reservations are delivered correctly and to reduce the risk of overbooking
How to set up a new room rate:
Set up a new room rate to map in this order:
If you use a PMS, create the room and rate there first and note the room and rate codes
In your platform, create/confirm the room type in Rooms and rates > Room types, then create the rate plan and room rate in Rooms and rates > Rate plans
If you use a PMS, RMS, or CRS, map the new room rate to your connected system in Distribution > Connectivities > Rooms and rates mapping
Create matching room rates in your channel's extranet so they are available to map
⚠️ Important: If you use a property management system (PMS), revenue management system (RMS), or central reservations system (CRS), you must also map your rates in Distribution > Connectivities. If you don't:
Updates made in your connected systems won't sync with your platform or channels
Reservations for unmapped rates won't be sent to your connected systems
This can lead to overbookings and missed reservations
Map your room rates to a channel
To map your room rates to a channel:
Go to Distribution > Channels.
Click the ellipsis button (three dots button) next to the channel.
Select Edit room rates mapping.
Use the Mapping status toggle to select Unmapped.
Find your platform room rate in the Channel manager column on the left, then on the right, click Map to [channel name].
Click Yes to Start updating channel.
Select the corresponding channel rate from the drop-down menu.
Review and enter any additional settings for the channel rate.
Take note of the inventory types listed under the headings: Data supported by this channel rate (in blue) and Data not supported by this channel rate (in grey).
Click Save.
Once you map a room rate to a channel, a “channel room rate” will be created.
Map new rates from Rooms and rates > Rate plans
For an easy way to map a new rate plan or promotional rate, you can also map from your rate plans page:
Go to Rooms and rates > Rate plans.
Click on the room rate.
Select Map to channel > choose your channel, then save the channel rate configuration.
Note: If you have created a matching room rate in your channel's extranet but cannot see it when trying to map, ensure the rate is active in the channel's extranet and wait at least 60 minutes.
Check your mapping
After mapping, check that:
All required room rates are mapped to the channel. There should be no unmapped rates (all rate types that exist on the channel such as derived and linked rates must also be mapped for reservation delivery)
The correct rates and restrictions appear in your Inventory grid
The channel is enabled in Channel settings
Check that all your rates are mapped correctly:
Go to Distribution > Channels.
Select Edit room rates mapping.
Use the Mapping status toggle to select Unmapped.
Check that all required rates are mapped.
Check for unmapped or disabled rates
⚠️ Unmapped rates: If you find unmapped rates, either:
Create matching rates in your platform to keep selling them
Remove them from your channel's extranet
⚠️ Disabled rates: A rate may become automatically disconnected (disabled) due to incorrect configuration or conflict between certain settings. If there are any disabled channel rates, hover over the disabled icon (red/yellow triangle warning icon) in the mapping list to see the error message. Fix the error, then re-enable the rate:
Click on the channel rate > click Configure.
Make sure "Start updating channel" is set to Yes.
Click Save.
If you have done all of the above but the update is not syncing or displaying correctly on channels, see this troubleshooting guide.
Verify inventory
Once you've mapped your rates, you can verify the sync is working correctly:
Make a small change to your inventory (rates, availability, restrictions), for example, update a rate or availability value.
Wait 30 minutes.
Log in to the channel's extranet and check that the update has come through correctly.
💡 If you use a property management system (PMS), revenue management system (RMS), or central reservations system (CRS) that syncs inventory to SiteMinder:
Check with your provider about what updates are sent to SiteMinder
Only make manual updates in your platform for inventory values not managed by your connected system
Why do I need to map a rate if it doesn't support any inventory updates?
Some rate types — such as package, derived, and linked rates — do not support any inventory updates because they inherit pricing and restrictions from a main rate managed by the channel. You still need to map all rate types to ensure reservations booked on these rates are delivered to your platform.
💡 Still set Start updating channel to Yes for these rates.
Check what inventory data is supported for a channel rate
Not all channels or specific channel rates support every type of inventory update. Check what the channel/channel rate supports in two places.
In the channel rate configuration
To check what inventory data a channel rate supports:
Go to Distribution > Channels.
Click the ellipsis button (three dots button) next to the channel.
Select Edit room rates mapping.
Click on the channel rate, then click Configure to open the Channel rate configuration. (You can also get here when mapping the rate for the first time).
Check the headings Data supported by this channel rate (in blue) and Data not supported by this channel rate (in grey).
Supported inventory types will show in blue under Data supported by this channel rate.
Unsupported inventory types will show in grey under Data not supported by this channel rate.
On the Inventory grid
A dash (—) in place of a rate value on the Inventory grid means the channel or channel rate doesn't support that update type.
Dashes for all rates on a channel mean the channel doesn't support that inventory type
Dashes for specific rates may mean updates are blocked for certain rate types, such as package or derived rates
If the channel or channel rate doesn't support an inventory type, manage those updates directly in the channel's extranet.
Enable the channel
After mapping all required room rates and checking that rates, availability, and restrictions are correct, enable the channel to start selling.
To enable the channel, go to Distribution > Channels > find the channel and click the ellipsis (three dots button) > select Update Channel settings > click the “Enable the connection to [channel name]” button.
Manage mapped rates
Update mapping settings
To update channel rate configuration for an existing mapping:
Go to Distribution > Channels.
Click the ellipsis button (three dots button) next to the channel.
Select Edit room rates mapping.
Click on the channel rate.
Click Configure to open the channel rate configuration.
Update channel rate settings.
Click Save.
Disconnect mapping
To disconnect the mapping for a channel rate:
Go to Distribution > Channels.
Click the ellipsis button (three dots button) next to the channel.
Select Edit room rates mapping.
Click on the channel rate.
Click Disconnect from channel.
Review the warning and click Disconnect.
⚠️ Before you disconnect a channel rate. Note:
Disconnecting a rate only stops updates from your platform. The rate remains active and visible on the channel. If a room type or room rate exists on the channel and you no longer want to sell it, you must delete or deactivate it in the channel’s extranet directly.
Remove the room rate from the channel's extranet before disconnecting it from your platform.
💡 You can remap a channel rate at a later time if needed.
