Update your property's general information: currency, inventory, and language settings

Update your property’s settings: currency, minimum rate, update period, auto-replenishment, and language and region settings.

To update these settings, click on your property name in the top navigation bar > Property settings > General information:

  • Currency settings: base currency and currency conversion

  • Inventory settings: minimum rates, update period, weekend highlighting, and auto-replenishment

  • Language and region settings: base language, units of measurement, and time zone

Currency settings

Base currency

To set your property's base currency, go to Property settings > General information > Currency. This is the currency accepted at your property and used to set daily pricing in your inventory grid.

  • Make sure the settings match between channels and your SiteMinder platform to avoid displaying different values/currencies

  • Contact our support team if you want to manage rates using multiple currencies

Currency conversion

Enable currency conversion to send prices to channels in a different currency from your base currency. To enable, click on your property name in the top navigation bar > Property settings > General information > Currency.

Currency conversion:

  • Only applies to rates set in the inventory grid

  • Cannot be used if rate plan currency is enabled

  • Does not apply to extra person charges configured in the channel rate's settings (for example, extra person charges and discounts). These extra person charges need to be set in the currency being sent to the channel, as currency conversion will not apply to them.

  • Currency exchange rates are taken from XE.com several times a day to calculate conversions

Important: If you make any changes to currency settings, check your online channels to ensure they are displaying correct rate information. It may take several minutes for channels to display updates.

Inventory settings

Minimum rate

💡 Set minimum rates for each currency to avoid sending rates that are too low to your channels. Click on your property name in the top navigation bar > Property settings > General information > Minimum rate.

  • Add a minimum rate for each currency

  • If you have discounts set directly in channels, we recommend also setting a minimum rate in those channels

Note: Channel rates are adjusted and applied after the Minimum rate is set (for example, any adjustments for Currency conversion, Rate multiplier, Single guest discount, Occupancy based pricing).

Limit how far ahead rates and availability are sent to channels (Update period)

The update period is the number of days in advance your SiteMinder platform sends rates, availability, and restrictions to your connected channels and your booking engine.

Types of update periods

Three settings affect how far in advance your inventory is sent:

  • Property update period (default): the default period your platform sends inventory to all channels including your booking engine. Set this in Property settings > General information. The default and minimum in property settings is 400 days. You can update as needed, for example set to 400 days (approximately 1 year, 1 month) in advance, or up to 750 days (approximately 2 years in advance).

  • Channel maximum update period: The maximum period each channel accepts updates for. This can differ per channel. For example, some channels only allow guests to book up to 365 days in advance, even if you send a longer period from SiteMinder. You can view each channel’s maximum update period in Distribution > Channels.

  • PMS, RMS, or CRS update period: if you have a connected PMS, RMS, or CRS, it may have its own limit on how many days in advance it sends inventory to SiteMinder. Check this with your provider. Set the maximum update period in your PMS/RMS/CRS if supported.

⚠️ The update period you set at property level should be at least as long as the minimum availability required by your connected channels under your contracts. Some channels require you to send availability more than 12 months in advance (often 400+ days). If you want to limit the bookable window on a particular channel (for example to 365 days), you can use stop sells, but check your channel contracts first, as blocking availability may go against your agreed terms.

Keep in mind:

  • Changing the update period does not automatically open availability for future dates. Inventory (availability, rates, restrictions) must be loaded for dates within the update period

  • You can load inventory and rates up to 750 days in advance. However, each channel can support a different update period, and your connected PMS, RMS, or CRS may also have its own limit. So even if you load inventory for future dates, it will not appear on a channel that does not accept dates that far ahead.

💡 If you have availability loaded for future dates but it is not showing on channels, check that your update period is set high enough and that the channel's maximum update period supports those dates.

Rates for new dates in your update period

As time passes, new dates become available within your update period. If you have not loaded rates for those new dates yet, your platform applies a default rate to each new date.

  • If your rates are managed in SiteMinder: the default rate is the amount in the Full rate field under Manually input daily rates in your rate plan (your rack rate)

  • If you have a PMS that sends rates to SiteMinder: the default rate comes from your PMS instead

Weekend starts on

Set your weekend days to visually highlight them in dark orange on the inventory grid, making it easier to apply different rates and restrictions.

Auto-replenishment

Auto-replenishment is an optional setting for properties that manage their inventory directly in SiteMinder (with no PMS/RMS integration that manages availability). Auto-replenishment will automatically restore room availability when reservations are cancelled or modified.

Important: If you are connected to a PMS/RMS/CRS, do not enable auto-replenishment in your SiteMinder platform. Using auto-replenishment with a PMS connection can cause inventory mismatches and overbooking issues.

Auto-replenishment settings:

  • Always: always restore availability

  • Only if the availability is 1 or more: availability will automatically be increased by 1 for the room rate when a reservation is cancelled or modified (if availability for the room rate is not 0). If availability is 0, it will not be replenished

  • Disabled

Language and region settings

Set and update language and region settings, click on your property name in the top navigation bar > Property settings > General information > Language and region.

  • Base language: set the main language used on your SiteMinder platform for property setup, content, and your booking engine.

  • Units of measurement: select between Metric (most common worldwide) or Imperial (used in USA, Myanmar, and Liberia) to set accurate guest expectations regarding room sizes and facilities

  • Time zone: set your property's time zone to correctly indicate the start and end of each day on the Distribution calendar and calculate timing for rate plan release periods

⚠️ Note that an incorrect timezone can cause issues such as guests being able to book past check-in dates. Ensure your SiteMinder timezone matches the timezone setting in your connected PMS/RMS/CRS
