About Rooms and Rates
Updated this week

The SiteMinder platform makes it easy to manage your rooms and rates across all your connected channels.

Your rooms and rates setup consists of room types, rate plans, room rates, and channel room rates.

Room types

A room type is a category of rooms that share similar characteristics, such as the type of room (standard or deluxe), number of occupants allowed, bed type, and room views.

Here are some common room types:

  • Single room

  • Double room

  • Family room

  • Accessible room

  • Studio

  • Apartment

To create or manage room types, go to Rooms and rates > Room types.

Rate plans

Rate plans help you sell your rooms in different ways to attract more guests. Common rate plans include:

  • Standard rates that offer flexible booking terms

  • Non-refundable rates at a discounted price

  • Breakfast included rates for guests who want meal options

  • Advance purchase rates for early bookers

  • Extended stay rates with minimum night requirements

You can create discounted rate plans by deriving rates from another rate plan. For example, you can derive a Non-refundable rate plan from your Standard rate plan with a 15% discount. Or, create derived rates to link your Breakfast included rate plan to your Standard rate plan, with an additional AUD 20 per night.

To create or manage rate plans, go to Rooms and rates > Rate plans.

Room rates

A room rate is created when you assign a rate plan to a room type. For example, when you assign your Breakfast included rate plan to your Double room type, this creates a room rate called "Double room, Breakfast included".

Your room rate automatically includes:

  • Occupancy settings from the room type

  • Pricing and restrictions from the rate plan

  • Any inclusions from the rate plan

You can override settings for individual room rates if needed.

To create or manage room rates, go to Rooms and rates > Rate plans.

Channel room rates

When you map a room rate to a channel, this creates a “channel room rate”.

To manage your channel room rates:

  1. Go to Distribution > Channels.

  2. Click the ellipsis button (three dots button) next to the channel.

  3. Select Edit room rates mapping.

  4. This will take you to the channel’s Room rates mapping page — the central place to manage your mapping and channel room rate configuration.

From here you can:

  • Map new room rates to the channel

  • Update settings for existing mapped channel room rates

  • Check which rates are mapped/unmapped, or enabled/disabled

💡 Note: You can also view your mapped channel rates in Distribution > Inventory by clicking the channel's down arrow.
