Preventing certain people or email domains from receiving your Guest Engagement emails

Updated over a month ago

There will be some occasions where you don't want any Guest Engagement emails sent to certain people, for example, travel agents, group operators, corporate bookers, etc.

Note: The options that you see will differ, based on the data Guest Engagement receives from your PMS or channel manager.

To prevent sending emails to a single address

Add the email address to the Email address field. Once you have typed it, press the Enter key on your keyboard, and you will see it becomes its own entity:

To prevent sending to an entire email domain

Sometimes it's easier to block an entire domain, rather than individual recipients within it. To do so, add a domain, e.g. @travelcompany.com, to the Email address field. Once you have typed it, press the Enter key on your keyboard, and you will see it becomes its own entity:

You can then continue adding more email domains as required.

To prevent sending to reservations based on PMS data

In some cases, you might want to prevent emails being sent to guests based on their reservation data.

For example, in some PMSs, people who will be attending a meeting, wedding, or other non-overnight event still end up in Guest Engagement as hotel guests. So, you might want to prevent emails being sent based on room type, rate code, source channel, etc.

Depending on the data we receive from your PMS (or channel manager), you can add choices here to do so.

Global exclusions and individual email exclusions?

As the name "global" implies, the settings you add here will prevent all emails being sent.

But what happens when there are global exclusions and exclusions added specifically to one email?

The answer is that both sets of exclusions will be applied. This means that you don't need to add the same exclusions to each email you create; simply add them as global exclusions, and if there are any specific exclusions required, add them on a per email basis 👍
