Upgrading your Tablet Hotels connection

How to prepare for your Tablet Hotels connection upgrade to Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels.

What is changing with my Tablet Hotels connection?

We’re upgrading your Tablet Hotels connection to our new API technology. This new connection, called Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels, will provide you with:

  • More frequent channel updates with less downtime

  • Increased reliability reducing the risk of overbookings

  • Better synchronisation with standardised API connections

On your upgrade date, you will be automatically upgraded to this new channel connection. We will enable the new connection for you, so you do not need to enable it yourself.

Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels now also supports maximum stay, close to arrival, Occupancy Based Pricing and reservation modifications, which the old connection did not.

What do I need to do before the upgrade?

We copy your existing data from the old Tablet Hotels connection to the new Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels connection for you. Before your upgrade date, check your inventory and configuration for the Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels channel, and pay special attention to the following to make sure they are set correctly:

  • Inventory (availability, rates and restrictions, including stop sell, minimum stay, maximum stay and close to arrival/departure)

    • Pay special attention to maximum stay and close to arrival, as these are now supported on Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels.

  • Occupancy settings such as included occupancy, maximum occupancy, extra adult rate, extra child rate, and single guest discount. Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels now supports Occupancy Based Pricing, so make sure these fields are correctly configured

  • Channel rate setup

  • Channel settings

    • Currency conversion (if applicable)

    • Rate multiplier

    • Min stay through

  • Yield rules. Make sure any rule containing Tablet Hotels rates also includes the corresponding Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels rates

  • Room rate mapping. Check your room rates are correctly mapped. Only valid room rates with an “enabled” status on the old connection will be migrated

⚠️ You do not need to enable the room rates or connection, as we will enable this automatically on your upgrade date. Do not enable it yourself.

Do I need to enable the new connection myself?

No. Do not enable the room rates or connection yourself. We will enable the Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels connection for you automatically on your upgrade date.

If you enable the connection yourself, inventory data and new reservations will start flowing through it before it is ready.

Why do I see two Tablet Hotels connections in my channel list?

You may see two connections in your channel list.

  • MICHELIN Guide / Tablet Hotels is the new connection

  • Tablet Hotels is the old connection

Both connections remain active until the final reservation through the old connection has passed and it can be removed. Do not disable the old Tablet Hotels connection, so that cancellations for existing reservations made through it can still be received. If you are connecting for the first time, connect to MICHELIN Guide / Tablet Hotels.

Will I lose any reservations during the upgrade?

⚠️ To make sure no reservations are lost, do not disconnect any room rate mappings or disable the old Tablet Hotels connection. The old connection is kept so that cancellations for existing reservations made through it can still be received.

What happens after the upgrade?

Once the new connection is enabled on your upgrade date, your inventory data will no longer be sent via the old Tablet Hotels connection, regardless of the mapping status. From this point onward, all inventory data will be sent through the new connection, and all new reservations will flow through your Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels channel.

Both connections stay on your channel list until the old connection can be decommissioned. The old connection appears as Tablet Hotels (TBH) and the new connection appears as Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels (TAB).

⚠️ Do not disconnect any room rate mappings or disable the old Tablet Hotels connection, so that cancellations for existing reservations made through it can still be received.

If you are connected to a property management system (PMS), it may automatically update your availability, rates and restrictions when the new connection is enabled.

What channel code do I use for my PMS?

The channel code for the new connection is TAB. If you are connected to a property management system (PMS) that needs to map booking channels to process reservations, ask them to add TAB for Michelin Guide / Tablet Hotels. If you are using Opera ADS or Protel, check with them for the correct code to use.
