Trusted devices

How to add and manage trusted devices, required to view sensitive information and perform sensitive actions.

From 22nd September 2026, we're introducing trusted devices, another layer of protection that makes access to sensitive data safer and more resistant to phishing. You'll need to add a trusted device to perform certain actions in your account, such as viewing guest contact and credit card details.

What is a trusted device?

A trusted device is a device you've confirmed is yours. Trusting a device adds an extra layer of protection, keeping access to your sensitive information and actions safer and more resistant to phishing.

You need a trusted device to view sensitive information, such as guest contact and credit card details, or to perform sensitive actions. Trusted devices work alongside other security measures, such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), passwords, and passkeys, to help keep your account secure.

Once a device is trusted, you can sign in without an MFA prompt and won't need to complete additional verification to view sensitive information or perform sensitive actions.

Note: Trusted devices are not supported in the SiteMinder mobile app. On a mobile web browser, you'll be prompted to trust your device the same as on desktop, however you can only view and delete trusted devices on desktop.

Which actions need a trusted device?

You need a trusted device to:

  • View sensitive information, such as guest contact details (e-mail address and phone number), and guest credit card details

  • Modify a direct booking reservation

  • Download a list of reservations (Reservations page)

  • Download a monthly list of reservations for Demand Plus (Demand Plus > Statements)

  • Download reservation PMS history (XML or JSON file)

  • Set up a payment gateway

  • Perform User management actions: adding new users or editing existing user’s permissions, removing a trusted device, deleting a passkey, or resetting MFA for another user.

  • Reset your own MFA, or delete your own passkey or trusted device from My Account.

On a trusted device, viewing sensitive information and performing sensitive actions unlock silently on that device instead of being asked to verify with your MFA method.

How do I add a trusted device?

You will only be able to set up trusted devices from 22nd September. You cannot add trusted devices before this date. On 22nd September, you will receive a prompt to add a trusted device at login.

Note: You need MFA set up before you can add a trusted device. If you haven't set up MFA yet, set it up first, then add your trusted device. You can also use a passkey, but MFA must be set up before you can create passkeys.

Add a trusted device at login

To add a trusted device when you log in to SiteMinder from a new browser or device:

  1. Log in on a desktop or mobile web browser with your password and MFA, or with a passkey.

  2. When prompted with Trust this device for faster logins, click the Make trusted device button

  3. If you logged in with a password and MFA, we'll send you an e-mail to confirm your device. Click the link in that e-mail before you can use the device. If you logged in with a passkey, your device is trusted straight away.

If you logged in with a passkey

Your device is trusted straight away. You will receive a confirmation e-mail to let you know a new trusted device has been added.

If you logged in with a password and MFA

You must confirm your device by e-mail before it becomes a trusted device. Until you confirm, you can't use it to view sensitive information. The confirmation link expires after 24 hours.

To confirm your device:

  1. Open the confirmation e-mail we just sent you.

  2. Click on "I trust this device".

  3. Return to SiteMinder to complete login, or follow the links in the e-mail.

Add a trusted device from My Account

You can also add a trusted device from My Account settings:

  1. Log in to your account on a desktop or mobile web browser.

  2. Click on your profile icon in the top right corner > select My Account.

  3. Scroll down to Trusted devices. Click Add trusted device.

  4. Verify with your MFA or passkey when prompted.

💡 The Add trusted device button only appears when the device you're using isn't already trusted.

View your trusted devices

To see which devices are trusted on your account:

  1. Log in to your account on a desktop or mobile web browser.

  2. Click your profile icon in the top right corner, then select My Account.

  3. Scroll down to Trusted devices.

Each device shows its name and browser, for example iPad | Safari. From here you can remove any device you no longer want to trust.

Remove a trusted device

You need to be on a trusted desktop device to remove one.

  1. Log in to your account from a trusted device on a desktop or mobile web browser.

  2. Click your profile icon in the top right corner, then select My Account.

  3. Scroll down to Trusted devices and find the device you want to remove.

  4. Click Remove next to that device.

Removing a device immediately ends its trusted status. You can't access sensitive information from that device until you add it back.

💡 Note: If you are not on a trusted device or you've lost access to your trusted devices, you can't delete a trusted device and you will need to ask another user with user management permissions to help.

What happens when I log in on a trusted device?

On a trusted device, you skip the extra verification step when you log in. After you enter your e-mail and password, you will be logged in and you won't be asked to verify with MFA or a passkey.

You may still be asked to verify with MFA occasionally, for example every 30 days, or if you switch browsers or devices, or clear your browser data.

What happens when I log in on a device that isn't trusted?

If you're logging in from a device that isn't trusted, you'll still be prompted to verify with MFA or a passkey. After verifying, you'll be asked if you want to set up this device as trusted. You can continue to log in without enrolling the device as trusted.

I do not want to use a trusted device. Do I have to?

You can log in and use SiteMinder without setting up a trusted device. When prompted to trust a device, you can continue without enrolling it.

A trusted device is required to view sensitive information (such as guest contact and credit card details) and to perform sensitive actions. Without a trusted device, you can still log in, but you will not be able to view these details or perform these actions.

My device is already trusted, why am I being prompted again?

Even on a trusted device, you may still be asked to verify with MFA occasionally, for example every 30 days, or if you switch browsers or devices, or clear your browser data.

A trusted device is linked to your user account, your browser profile and your device. If you switch browsers on the same computer, or use incognito or private browsing mode, the device may not be recognised as trusted and you may need to enrol it again.

Can I use trusted devices on mobile?

You can only add and manage trusted devices on a desktop device. Trusted devices are not currently supported on mobile or the SiteMinder mobile app.

How do I verify my identity in the SiteMinder mobile app?

To log in and view sensitive guest details in the SiteMinder mobile app, you'll be prompted to verify with your multi-factor authentication (MFA) method. Passkeys and trusted devices are currently not supported in the SiteMinder mobile app.

Why can't I view credit card details?

To view sensitive information such as a guest's credit card details (PAN) or personal details (PII), you need to be on a trusted device. If you're on a device that isn't trusted, to view sensitive details, you'll be prompted to set up a trusted device.

To add a trusted device, first set up MFA, then make your device trusted. You can log in with a passkey, but you still need a trusted device to view these details.

What if I have lost access to all my trusted devices?

If you no longer have access to any of your trusted devices, you can't remove a device, delete a passkey, or reset MFA yourself (via My account). This is because these actions are sensitive and require you to be on a trusted device.

To regain access:

  1. Contact another user with user management permissions to remove the trusted device for you (the user must be using a trusted device)

  2. If a user with user management access isn't available, contact our support team. They can help remove one or all of your trusted devices for you.

Once your device is removed, log in with your MFA method and add your current device as a new trusted device.

What if I get a trusted device email I didn't request?

When a new trusted device is enrolled on your account, you'll get an e-mail asking you to confirm it. If you didn't request this enrolment, open the e-mail and click Unknown device to reject it.

If you didn't request to enrol this trusted device, we recommend changing your password.

Can I register more than one device?

Yes. There is currently no limit to how many trusted devices can be enrolled, including across different browsers, although we recommend keeping the number of trusted devices to a minimum.

Can I use trusted devices with Multi-property?

If your group uses Multi-property, a user can set up a trusted device within an individual property. However you cannot view or manage trusted devices across multiple properties.
