Dynamic discounts for your booking engine

Set up length of stay, package deal, and stay pay deal discounts for your booking engine.

Dynamic discounts apply to your direct booking engine only. For channels, such as Booking.com or Expedia, discounts and promotions must be set up directly in that channel's extranet.

About dynamic discounts

Dynamic discounts encourage more direct bookings by offering guests discounted rates automatically, without a promotion code. Dynamic discounts are public rates, visible to any guest searching your direct rates, and apply to the base rate as well as the charge for any additional guests.

There are three types of dynamic discount:

  • Dynamic length of stay discount: a discounted rate for longer stays

  • Package deal: a set number of nights at one fixed price

  • Stay pay deal: guests pay for fewer nights than they stay, for example "stay 3 nights and only pay for 2"

💡 A rate plan can only have one type of dynamic discount applied at a time. You cannot combine a length of stay discount, package deal, and stay pay deal on the same rate plan.

To set up a dynamic discount, configure the Dynamic discounts section under Direct booking controls when creating or editing a rate plan. After creating a new rate plan, activate it for direct booking via Direct booking > Rates > Activate rates, or the discount won't appear on your booking engine.

To feature a dynamic discount at the top of your booking engine alongside your rate plan's inclusions, configure Highlight rate plan on direct booking engine in the rate plan's direct booking controls.

Restrict when guests can book a dynamic discount

You can limit when a dynamic discount is available using additional direct booking controls:

  • Applicable dates

  • Advertised dates

  • Maximum advance booking dates

  • Restrict rate to mobile device

  • Minimum stay, maximum stay, and release period

Dynamic length of stay discount

A dynamic length of stay discount offers guests who book direct a lower nightly rate the longer they stay. Guests pay for every night they book, at a reduced rate that increases based on the stay length you have set.

For example, you could set up:

  • 10% off stays of five nights or more

  • 15% off stays of seven nights or more

  • 20% off stays of 10 nights or more

Rate plans with a dynamic length of stay discount display "Save X%" on your booking engine, where X is the discount percentage. The original price is crossed out, with the discounted price shown below it.

Set up a dynamic length of stay discount

  1. Go to Rooms and Rates > Rate plans.

  2. Add a new rate plan or edit an existing rate plan.

  3. Under Direct booking controls, click on the Dynamic discounts toggle.

  4. Select Dynamic length of stay discount as the Discount type.

  5. Click on Add a new rule.

  6. Enter the Discount percentage in the Value field.

  7. Select the number of stay nights from the drop-down menu.

  8. Add further rules if you need more than one length of stay tier.

  9. Enter any other applicable direct booking controls, such as applicable dates.

  10. Click Save.

Package deal

A package deal charges guests one fixed price for a set number of nights, based on the rate of the first night only. Guests pay for every included night, bundled into that single price.

A package deal can also include extras or additional services, such as a free airport transfer for guests who book the included number of nights.

⚠️ The Number of included nights overrides the Minimum stay set in the inventory for that rate, but only on your booking engine. For example, if you set the Number of included nights to three and the daily rate to AUD 500, guests must book a minimum of three nights for AUD 500 total, the rate of the first night's stay, even if the inventory minimum stay is set higher.

Room rates with a package deal display "Package deal" on your booking engine. Guests can click the room rate's name to see the nightly breakdown, which is also included in confirmation e-mails sent to both your property and the guest.

💡 A package deal only displays on your booking engine when guests search for a number of nights that is:

  • Equal to or greater than the Number of included nights configured for the rate

  • Equal to or less than the Maximum stay configured in the inventory

Set up a Package deal

  1. Go to Rooms and rates > Rate plans.

  2. Add a new rate plan or edit an existing one.

  3. Under Direct booking controls, click the Dynamic discounts toggle.

  4. Select Package deal as the Discount type.

  5. Enter the Number of included nights — the number of nights included in the package price.

  6. Enter any Charges for additional nights — the extra amount charged to guests staying longer than the included nights.

  7. Enter the Rate for included occupants — the extra amount charged to included occupants staying longer than the included nights.

  8. Enter the Extra adult rate — the amount charged per extra adult, per night, on top of the rate for included occupants.

  9. Enter the Extra child rate — the amount charged per extra child, per night, on top of the rate for included occupants.

  10. Enter the Extra infant rate — the amount charged per extra infant, per night, on top of the rate for included occupants.

  11. Click Add seasonal override if you want different package rates for specific times of year.

  12. Click Save.

💡 Notes on package deals:

  • The Number of included nights overrides the inventory's Minimum stay on your booking engine only. For example, if the inventory minimum stay is four nights but the package deal includes three nights, guests can book the three-night package through your booking engine.

  • Occupancy is not set at the rate plan level. Edit a room rate to view its Included occupancy.

  • The Rate for included occupants cannot be lower than the rate plan's Minimum rate, found under Pricing when editing a rate plan.

  • Set extra adult, child, or infant rates to "0" if you don't want to charge for extra occupants.

Stay pay deal

A stay pay deal lets guests book a certain number of nights but only pay for a smaller number of nights that you define, for example "stay 3 nights and only pay for 2." The remaining night is free. A stay pay deal is not the same as a package deal — it does not bundle nights into one fixed price, it removes the charge for specific nights.

Room rates with a stay pay deal display "Stay X nights get Y free" on your booking engine. The original price is crossed out, with the discounted price shown below it.

A stay pay deal offers guests free-nights, such as "stay 3 nights, pay for 2." For an offer that includes an extra or additional service, such as a free airport transfer, you can use the package deal discount.

💡 A stay pay deal only displays on your booking engine when guests search for a number of nights that is:

  • Equal to or greater than the Stay nights configured

  • Equal to or less than the Maximum stay set for the rate plan in the inventory

Set up a Stay pay deal

  1. Go to Rooms and Rates > Rate plans.

  2. Add a new rate plan or edit an existing rate plan.

  3. Under Direct booking controls, click on the Dynamic discounts toggle.

  4. Select Stay pay deal as the Discount type.

  5. Stay — add how many nights are included.

  6. Pay — enter the number of nights that guests need to pay for.

  7. Below Discount for, select which night guests will not pay for: First night, Last night, or Cheapest night.

  8. Click on Save.

⚠️ The inventory's Minimum stay overrides the Stay nights set in your stay pay deal, on your booking engine. For example, if the inventory minimum stay is four nights but the stay pay deal is configured for three stay nights, guests can only book the stay pay deal for four nights or more through your booking engine.
