Member discounts are a Direct Booking feature that lets you offer a discounted member rate to guests who join your member list during checkout. You set a single flat percentage discount across all your room rates, with no complex rate-plan setup. Guests select the member rate, enter their details, and join for free using their e-mail address, without creating a password or account.
Benefits of member discounts
Member discounts help you:
Give guests more reasons to book direct: offer a special discounted price during checkout
Increase direct booking conversion: make your direct booking rates more attractive and price-competitive so you compete more effectively with OTAs on metasearch channels
Build your direct guest database: grow a member list you can download and use to support your own marketing, subject to applicable consent and privacy requirements
Set up a member discount
To set up a member discount for your direct booking engine:
Go to Direct Booking > Guest membership.
In the Set up tab, click on the Member discount toggle to turn it on (blue).
Enter a discount percentage between 1% and 20%. Use a whole number with no decimals.
Select Save changes.
💡 You can also open the setup page by selecting Set up member discounts from the banner on the Direct Booking > Rates page.
Note: The discount applies to all room rates when guests choose member pricing on your booking engine.
Manage your member list
To view and manage your member list:
Go to Direct Booking > Guest membership.
Go to the Members tab.
Click the eye icon Show member details (must be on a trusted device).
Review the member list, including each guest's name, e-mail address, and the date they joined.
Remove a member
To remove a member from your member list:
Go to Direct Booking > Guest membership.
Select the Members tab.
Find the member you want to remove.
Select the three-dot (ellipsis) button in the Actions column.
Select Remove member.
Download your member list
To download your member list as a CSV file, go to Direct Booking > Guest membership > Members tab > click on Download CSV. You must be using a trusted device.
💡 Note: The Show member details and Download CSV options only appear if you have permission to view guest details.
What guests see on your booking engine
A Member discount toggle on your booking engine controls whether guests see member prices or standard prices. Whether it starts switched on or off depends on where the guest came from.
Guests arriving from a Google Hotel Ads member-price result see the Member discount toggle switched on by default. Member prices show across all rate plans, each marked with a Member price tag.
Guests arriving from another source, such as your website or social media, see the Member discount toggle switched off by default, so standard prices show. These guests can switch on the Member discount toggle to preview discounted prices.
How guests join your member list at checkout
Guests join your member list at checkout by selecting Apply member discount and join our member list and entering their details as usual. Guests join using their e-mail address and do not need to create an account or password.
If a guest selects a member rate but leaves this checkbox unchecked, they are prompted to either Use regular price or Join & keep discount. A guest who selected a standard rate can still select the checkbox to switch to the member price.
Can I use a member discount with a promotion code?
No. Member discounts and promotion codes cannot be used together. If a guest applies a promotion code, the promotion code overrides the member discount.
How to identify member-rate bookings
To identify member-rate bookings, look for the green Member price tag. It appears in the reservation confirmation e-mail you receive and in the reservation details when you open the reservation in your platform.
