Connect or disconnect SynXis

💡 Important to know:

  • To connect SynXis to our platform, you need a SynXis account — if you do not have one, go to SynXis’s website to create an account before proceeding.

Benefits of connecting SynXis

SynXis is a central reservations system (CRS) that can be connected as a channel to the SiteMinder platform. Through SynXis, you can expand your online and offline distribution to over half a million travel agencies worldwide, Global Distribution Systems (GDS), booking engines, and reservation call centres.

Updates supported by SynXis

Our platform sends inventory updates to SynXis that include the following data:

Rates and occupancy

  • Rates shown on the Inventory page

  • Extra adult rate

  • Extra child rate

  • Single guest discount

Availability

Restrictions

  • Minimum stay — also called ‘minimum stay on arrival’, this restriction only applies to the check-in day. For example, if you set this restriction to ‘3’ for 2 June and a guest wants to book a two-night reservation starting on 1 June, they will be able to make the reservation.

  • Minimum stay through — this restriction applies to all of the days booked in the reservation. For example, if you set this restriction to ‘3’ for 2 June and a guest wants to book a two-night reservation starting on 1 June, they will not be able to make the reservation.

  • Maximum stay — also called ‘maximum stay on arrival’, this restriction only applies to the check-in day.

  • Stop sell

  • CTA (closed to arrival)

  • CTD (closed to departure)

💡 Note:

  • SynXis has a maximum inventory update period of 372 days.

  • Channels that accept stop sells can also accept your release period.

  • By default, our platform sends SynXis Minimum stay and Maximum stay as ‘on arrival’ instead of ‘stay through’.

Connect SynXis

💡 To connect SynXis to our platform, you need a SynXis account — if you do not have one, go to SynXis’s website to create an account before proceeding.

Step 1: Request a connection to SiteMinder

Contact your SynXis account manager to request an XML connection with SiteMinder. SynXis will enable the connection and provide SiteMinder with:

  • XML credentials

  • Property code

  • Default currency in SynXis

⚠️ Note:

  • The XML credentials are different to your SynXis login details.

  • For security purposes, do not disclose your SynXis extranet username and password.

Step 2: add SynXis to your platform

Make sure to add the channel ‘SynXis’.

Step 3: follow the steps in the Channel Connection Wizard

  1. Enter your SynXis’ Property code (noted during step 1).

  2. Select the Currency your property is using on SynXis and click on Next.

  3. Review the connection and click Connect.

  4. Once connected, please wait 24 hours for our support team to confirm the connection with SynXis.

Step 4: ensure that you have rooms and rates created in SynXis extranet

While our support team confirms the connection with SynXis, ensure that you have rooms and rates created in SynXis’ extranet with configurations matching those in our platform. Also make sure you have one room rate in our platform for each SynXis room rate you want to map.

Step 5: set up your SynXis channel settings

  1. Once our support team has activated SynXis’ connection, go to Distribution > Channels tab.

  2. Locate SynXis and click on its ellipsis button (...).

  3. In the Channel actions menu, select Update channel settings.

  4. In the Channel settings tab, click the edit button to update the General settings and Advance settings.

  5. Click Save.

Step 6: map your rates to SynXis

To map SynXis, follow the steps in article Map a room rate to a channel.

Step 7: check your inventory and enable SynXis

Once you have completed mapping, follow these steps:

  • Check that the data in your inventory is correct.

  • Follow the steps in the section titled ‘Edit your channel settings’ in Connect, edit, or disconnect a channel to enable SynXis.

Step 8: contact SynXis directly to confirm the connection is enabled and ensure all rates are mapped

Please reach out to SynXis directly to confirm that the connection to SiteMinder is complete and to ensure all your rates have been mapped. SynXis will then schedule a testing appointment with you to confirm:

  • inventory updates are successfully syncing with SynXis.

  • test reservations reach our platform.
