💡 Important to know:

  • Promotion codes created in our platform can only be used in our Booking Engine.

  • Your channel(s) may use different promotion codes from ours — for more information, please contact their support teams.

  • To manage your Booking Engine’s promotion codes, go to Direct booking > Promotion codes.

Why is it useful to apply restrictions to offers?

Although promotion codes do not have restrictions in their settings, you can apply restrictions to the room rates they are linked to.

This can be very useful in certain instances — for example, you might want to create a promotion code that can only be used by a guest if they stay for a set number of nights.

Set up restrictions for your Booking Engine’s promotion codes

  1. Create a new room rate that will be linked exclusively to a promotion code

  2. Add that room rate to your Booking Engine.

  3. Create a promotion code and assign it to the same room rate.

  4. Apply the necessary restrictions to the promotion code by performing a bulk update through Distribution > Inventory for the room rate.

➕ For example, if you wanted to create a ‘LongStaySpecial’ promotion code that can only be used by a guest if they stay 2 nights or more, these are the steps you would take:

  1. Create a ‘Long stay special’ room rate (via the most suitable room type).

  2. Add that room rate to your Booking Engine.

  3. Create a ‘LongStaySpecial’ promotion code and assign it to the same room rate.

  4. If you want to prevent customers without the ‘LongStaySpecial’ promotion code seeing the ‘Long Stay Special’ room rate on your Booking Engine, leave the icon closed (as explained in Create a promotion code for your Booking Engine) and it will only show up after the promotion code has been entered.

  5. Go to Distribution > Inventory, perform a bulk update, then apply a minimum stay of ‘2’ to the ‘Long Stay Special’ room rate for all of the necessary dates.

Restrict your Direct booking rates to a promotion code

If you only want a direct booking rate to show when a customer enters an assigned promotion code, follow these steps:

  1. Find the Direct booking rate and click on it.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Turn the Restrict rate toggle on.
