If your property is a hostel and you sell by the bed, we recommend setting up room types as beds to sell them individually on your booking engine and connected channels.
For example, if you are a hostel with:
5 rooms with 6 beds = 30 beds in six-bed dorms
5 rooms with 4 beds = 20 beds in four-bed dorms
You would create two room types:
"Bed in 6-Bed Mixed Dorm" (1 bed per room, set inventory as 30 beds)
"Bed in 4-Bed Female Dorm" (1 bed per room, set inventory as 20 beds)
This lets you sell all 50 beds individually, with separate availability tracking for each dorm type.
How to create room types to sell by the bed
To set up a room type to sell by the bed:
Go to Rooms and Rates > Room types.
Click Add room type.
Select Bed in Dormitory from the Room category drop-down.
Select a room type name from the Room type name dropdown (for example, “Bed in 4-Bed Female Dormitory Room”).
Enter the Number of rooms of this type (this is the number of beds).
Set both Maximum occupancy and Maximum adults to 1.
Add Bed type configuration as Single, Dormitory bed, or Bunk bed.
Add images so guests know what to expect.
Review and save.
