What is Enhanced sync?

Enhanced Sync allows you to manage your Booking.com room types and rate plans directly through your SiteMinder platform, without the need to log in to the Booking.com extranet.

You can create, update, manage and delete room types and rate plans for Booking.com directly from your platform, streamlining your rate distribution and saving you time and effort.

How is Enhanced sync different to the standard mapping process?

With the standard mapping process, you are required to set up your rooms and rates on the channel’s extranet, to match the set up in your SiteMinder platform, before mapping the two together.

Enhanced Sync eliminates duplicate tasks on the channels extranet, by letting you centrally manage your rooms and rates directly from your SiteMinder platform. You can create, update, and delete Booking.com rooms and rates without needing to log in to the Booking.com extranet.

How do I enable Enhanced sync?

To enable Enhanced Sync with Booking.com, go to Distribution > Channels > Booking.com > click into the Enhanced Sync tab, click Enable.

What details will sync from SiteMinder to Booking.com?

With Enhanced sync, the below settings will be centrally managed in your SiteMinder platform and synced to Booking.com:

Rate plan and room rate details:

  • Rate plan name

  • Cancellation policy

  • Inclusions (for example, breakfast)

  • Minimum/Maximum advance booking

Room type details:

  • Room type name

  • Maximum occupancy

  • Maximum adults

  • Maximum children

  • Bed type configuration

  • Room size

  • Smoking policy

  • Number of bathrooms

  • Room view

  • Amenities and facilities

  • Licence details

Can I enable Enhanced Sync if I have already mapped to Booking.com?

Yes, if you are already connected and mapped to Booking.com, you can enable Enhanced Sync without losing your existing mapping data. Your room types and rate plans will be mapped automatically if they can be determined from existing rate plan mappings. You'll be guided through steps to confirm your current mapping and review any inconsistencies between room types and current mapping.

If you can’t find a corresponding rate plan, select the “not listed” option, then disconnect any associated room rates. You can easily create new room types and rate plans after enabling Enhanced sync.

Why do I need to resolve room type differences when enabling Enhanced sync?

If you have existing room rates mapped to Booking.com, when enabling Enhanced Sync, we compare your content (like amenities, bed setup, and room size) between SiteMinder and Booking.com. If we find any differences, you'll need to choose which content source is correct. The selected content will sync and be used as the source of truth going forward.

Why am I asked to resolve mapping inconsistencies when enabling Enhanced sync?

When enabling Enhanced Sync, you will be guided to resolve any mapping inconsistencies. This could be because mapped rooms or rates do not have identical IDs.

Enhanced sync only allows one room rate per room type and rate plan combination.

Can I use Enhanced Sync to create new rooms and rates on Booking.com?

Yes, Enhanced Sync lets you create and set up all your rooms and rates directly through your SiteMinder platform, without needing to log in to Booking.com. Whether you're setting up Booking.com for the first time, or you want to quickly distribute additional rates, there is no need to do duplicate tasks on the Booking.com extranet.

How long does it take updates to sync to Booking.com with Enhanced sync?

With Enhanced Sync you can update your rooms and rates (including synced content) in as little as 60 seconds (no more than a few minutes) from the moment you distribute the rate.

Can I disable Enhanced Sync?

If you wish to disable Enhanced sync, go to Distribution > Channels >Booking.com > Channel settings tab > turn the Enhanced sync toggle off. Once disabled, no data will be lost, however going forward, you will need to manage your rooms and rates via the Booking.com extranet. You can re-enable Enhanced sync at any time.
