Track configuration changes with the Lifecycle audit tool

Who can access Lifecycle audit?

Lifecycle audit logs are accessible to General and Admin users. Users must have the required permissions enabled to view the page.

What doesn't the Lifecycle audit tool track?

Use the audit log to see when configuration changes were made, and which users made the changes.

⚠️ The Lifecycle audit tool doesn't track reservation, pricing or restriction value changes

The Lifecycle audit tool tracks when configuration changes were made and who made them. It cannot be used to check historical rate values, investigate a rate discrepancy, or confirm what was actually sent to a channel.

The audit tool doesn't track:

  • Pricing or restriction changes made in Distribution > Inventory

  • Exact inventory values, including changes to rate, availability, or restrictions such as closed to arrival (CTA), minimum length of stay, or stop sell

  • Reservation changes, such as new bookings, modifications, or cancellations

If you need to check a past rate or investigate a rate discrepancy for a booking:

  • For a future stay date, check the rate in Distribution > Inventory

  • For a past stay date, you cannot view rate history in the inventory grid. Contact your PMS provider for historical rate and inventory logs, or contact the channel's support team directly (for example, Booking.com or Expedia) to investigate the rate that was booked

  • Contact your PMS provider to confirm what inventory values were sent from your PMS. SiteMinder cannot view PMS logs

Lifecycle audit log details

The Lifecycle audit log shows:

  • Hotelier timestamp: The date and time the change was made

  • Event source: Where the change was made. This will show "Extranet" if the change was made by property users in the SiteMinder platform, "System" for changes made by migrations or system updates, "Admin" for changes processed by SiteMinder via internal tools

  • Type: Category of update

  • Action: Details about what was changed (created, updated, etc)

  • User who made the change: The audit will show the e-mail address of the user who made the change.

Why you may see a masked user: When you see a masked user (e.g., ************** or xxxxx@xxx.xxx) in the audit log, it means the change was made by a member of our support team/SiteMinder staff. This can happen for a few reasons:

  • Changes made during onboarding assistance

  • Performing system updates relating to new features, security, or changes to resolve an issue or ensure stability.

If you have questions about an action made by a masked user, contact our support team.

Access Lifecycle audit logs for room rates

To view the Lifecycle audit log for a room rate:

  1. Go to Rooms and rates > Rate plans.

  2. Click the down arrow (v) on the rate plan.

  3. Click on the room rate.

  4. Select Audit.

The Lifecycle audit tool tracks these changes for room rates:

  • Date and time room rates were created

  • Default restrictions at creation

  • Manual or derived setting

  • Mapping changes (mapped to or disconnected from channels)

⚠️ The audit log tracks changes to default restrictions set on a room rate. It does not track restriction changes including CTA (closed to arrival), closed to departure (CTD), stop sell, or minimum stay made in Distribution > Inventory.

⚠️ There is no audit log at the rate plan level. Audit is only available for individual room rates.

Access Lifecycle audit logs for channels

Use the channel audit log to see when a channel was first connected, when configuration changes were made, and who made them.

  • Rate multiplier (added/updated/removed)

  • Currency conversion (added//updated/removed)

⚠️ Important note: The Lifecycle audit tool does not track inventory (such as pricing or restriction changes) made for channels. If you manage rates in your PMS, contact your PMS provider directly to check the audit logs for certain inventory values (values for rates, availability, or restrictions).

Frequently asked questions

Can I see the exact rate or availability values that were sent to channels?

No. The Lifecycle audit tool tracks when configuration changes were made and who made them, but it does not track exact inventory values.

How do I check when a rate was last updated?

You can only check future stay dates in the inventory grid, not past dates.

To check a future date:

  1. Go to Distribution > Inventory

  2. Navigate to the stay date and check the rate

If you need rate history for a past stay date, contact your PMS provider for historical rate and inventory logs, or contact the channel's support team directly.

I need to investigate a rate discrepancy for a booking. What should I do?

If the rate in your inventory grid is correct but the booking shows a different rate, check:

  • Is the rate mapped correctly?

  • Are there any rate multipliers or rate derivations that may have affected the rate?

  • Are there any associated discounts or promotions on the channel extranet?

If investigation is needed, contact the channel support team directly so they can investigate.

Why can't I see history of changes to restrictions?

The Lifecycle audit tool does not track pricing or restriction changes made in Distribution > Inventory. This includes closed to arrival (CTA), closed to departure (CTD), stop sell, minimum length of stay, and availability changes.

If a restriction was changed in your inventory, the audit log will not show who made this change or when. To investigate when the inventory was added/removed, contact your PMS provider to check what was sent to SiteMinder. Contact our support team if you do not have a connected PMS that manages inventory.
