GDS by SiteMinder - How to handle requests to cancel travel agent dummy bookings
Updated over a week ago

Scenario: I can see a booking that looks like a fake reservation.

Action to take:

1. Contact the travel agent via their details in the reservation as soon as possible to request agent to cancel the reservation before the cancellation deadline.
2. If unable to contact the agent after three attempts, contact SiteMinder, before the cancellation deadline of the reservation, and advise that you have been unsuccessful in contacting the agent.
3. SiteMinder will log a request to cancel the reservation, on behalf of your property to the GDS supplier.

If the request to cancel the reservation can be submitted to the GDS supplier before the cancellation deadline, then the reservation will likely be cancelled and the GDS transaction fee will not be incurred.

If the reservation is past or due to arrive within the next few days then the GDS booking transaction fee may be unavoidable but SiteMinder will still submit the request form regardless, so the GDS supplier can track these rogue agencies. Please note that waiving the GDS transaction fee is never guaranteed.
