Understanding SiteMinder GDS Codes
When working with GDS, it's important to understand the distinction between three different types of IDs and codes. Each serves a specific purpose, and using them correctly helps avoid delays or errors.
Chain Code
The SiteMinder GDS chain code is always GD
This identifies SiteMinder GDS as the GDS provider
You’ll use the chain code when completing RFPs (Request for Proposals) or when communicating with travel agents to ensure they can locate your property on each GDS
GDS Property Codes (GDS IDs)
Each individual GDS (Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo/Apollo, Worldspan, DHISCO) assigns its own property code, sometimes referred to as a GDS ID.
These are unique to your property within that specific GDS
You’ll need these property codes when filling out RFPs or helping travel agents locate your property in a specific GDS
How to find your GDS property codes
To find your property’s GDS IDs:
Log in to SiteMinder GDS extranet.
Go to Setup > Data Management > Distribution Systems.
The Mapping Information will then display for each of the GDS/IDS platforms that your property is active on.
The GDS/IDS name (Amadeus, Sabre, etc.) is displayed in the first column.
The Chain Code (always GD) in the second column
The Property Code (i.e. GDS ID) details are in the third column
Note: Travelweb is no longer in use.
SiteMinder GDS Extranet ID
Your SiteMinder GDS extranet ID is different from a GDS property ID.
It identifies your property internally on the SiteMinder GDS platform, not on external GDSs
You’ll need this extranet ID when filling in the GDS negotiated rate loading request form
It is not used for RFPs or for helping travel agents locate you on a GDS.
Where to find your SiteMinder GDS extranet ID
You can find your SiteMinder GDS extranet ID in the following places:
SiteMinder GDS extranet: It appears after your property name, in the top left corner of your SiteMinder GDS extranet
Reservation confirmation numbers: Your property ID appears at the start of each SiteMinder GDS reservation confirmation number. These confirmation numbers follow a consistent structure: [Property Code] + [Two Letters] + [Sequential Number]. For example, in the confirmation number 8123SG000001, the property code is 8123.
