💡Add, modify, or delete an extra for your SiteMinder booking engine in Direct booking > Extras. If you want to create an extra for your OTA channels, you may be able to do so via the channel’s extranet.
Extras for your booking engine
Extras are a great way to generate additional revenue with your direct bookings and shape the guest experience. Extras will be shown and available to guests when they book via your booking engine.
You have control over whether each extra is optional or mandatory, and you can assign it to specific room rates and dates.
You can offer extras for products or services your property provides directly, or partner with local businesses. Partnerships can be mutually beneficial: you offer your guests their services or products in exchange for them doing the same with their customers.
➕ Examples of extras you could offer: breakfast, lunch, or dinner; late check-in or check-out; airport transfers; a bottle of champagne or bouquet of flowers for a honeymoon special rate plan; snacks and hampers; housekeeping; spa services; tours and activities such as snorkelling or scuba diving.
Extras can be set up per booking, per person per night, per room, per room per night, or per person.
Create an extra for your booking engine
To create an extra for your booking engine:
Go to Direct booking > Extras.
Click on the Add extra button.
Enter the extra’s information, including name, description, and price.
Select the dates the extra will be available (any dates or select dates).
Tick the room rates you want to assign the extra to.
Upload or assign images of your extra.
Review the extra’s details, then click Save extra.
💡 Guests are more likely to book an extra when they can see an attractive image of it.
💡 Taxes on extras: To manage taxes applied to all extras or specific extras, go to Payment > Taxes. Choose whether the extra's price is displayed inclusive or exclusive of tax.
Making an extra mandatory
Tick the Mandatory extra checkbox if you want this extra to be automatically included in the rate plan (for example, breakfast). When ticked, the extra appears as part of the rate plan description on your booking engine and guests must purchase it with their booking. When unticked, the extra is optional and guests can choose to add it during booking.
➕ Use mandatory extras to display specific inclusions as part of a rate plan, for example "Christmas Dinner", "Airport Transfer Included", or "Breakfast Included".
Meal inclusions on your booking engine
Use Direct Booking > Extras for optional, paid meal add-ons only, for example, an add-on breakfast at an additional charge.
To display complimentary meal inclusions (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) on your booking engine, set these up in your rate plan in Rooms and rates > Rate plans, not in Direct Booking > Extras. Meal inclusions configured in your rate plan automatically display to guests on your booking engine.
Reorder your extras
To change the order your extras appear on your booking engine, go to Direct booking > Extras, click Reorder extras, then drag and drop your extras into the order you want.
Note: On the booking summary page, extras always appear in the order guests selected them and cannot be reordered. The display order for the booking summary page cannot be customised.
💡 If your extra is set to Per booking, you can allow guests to purchase more than one of that extra — for example, multiple spa sessions. On the booking summary page, extras always appear in the order guests selected them and cannot be reordered.

Guests will see extras at the end of the booking process, after they:
