Introduction to collecting reservation payments
When guests make a booking through your SiteMinder booking engine, they will be required to enter their payment card details (unless you have chosen to accept non-guaranteed bookings or don’t have a Deposit set up for a specific direct booking rate).
You can integrate SiteMinder Pay, our official payment gateway, to process payments and refunds. If you do not have SiteMinder Pay, you can process payments for direct bookings on an external system of your choice.
Set up your accepted payment methods for your booking engine and channels you connect to on Channels Plus to ensure your guests only make a booking using payment card types that your property is able to process. Surcharges will only apply to your booking engine.
For all third-party payment gateways, you will need to set up accepted cards, fees and surcharges on the gateway.
Set up credit cards and surcharges
Accepted credit cards apply to your SiteMinder booking engine and Channels Plus. Surcharges only apply to your booking engine.
To set up the credit cards your property accepts:
Go to Payments > Accepted payments.
Next to Credit cards, click the Edit icon.
Tick the checkbox next to each credit card you accept.
If applicable, enter the percentage surcharge for your SiteMinder booking engine.
Click Save.
Before adding a credit card surcharge, please check to ensure it complies with local regulations. Payment card surcharges are not permitted in certain countries.
Set up other payment methods
Other payment methods apply only to your booking engine, when a Deposit is required at the time of booking. Other payment methods include:
Apple Pay — unavailable if your booking engine is embedded into a website.
Google Pay.
iDEAL — available in Europe (excluding the UK).
To set up other payment methods that your property accepts:
Go to Payments > Accepted payments.
Next to Other payment methods, click the Edit icon.
Tick the checkbox next to each payment method you accept.
If applicable, enter the percentage surcharge.
Click Save.
Note:
When a payment is made using a method set up in ‘Other payment methods’ such as Apple Pay / Google Pay, the full payment card number will not be stored and therefore cannot be used for any other future payments.
For new customers to SiteMinder Pay and/or the booking engine, Apple Pay and Google Pay will be automatically enabled when your account is activated.
If your property accepts Apple Pay or Google Pay, you will need to include a privacy statement in your property’s Terms, conditions and privacy policy.
Before adding a payment card surcharge, please check to ensure it complies with local regulations. Payment card surcharges are not permitted in certain countries. The surcharge will be applied to the total amount of the deposit(s) at the time of booking.
