💡 Important to know:

  • To accept Other payment methods (such as a digital wallet) in your SiteMinder booking engine, you must have a SiteMinder Pay account, and must require a Deposit (or full payment) at the time of booking. These other payment methods can also be used with Demand Plus.

  • When a payment is made using a method set up in Other payment methods, the full payment details will not be stored and therefore cannot be used for any other future payments.

  • To set up the payment methods your property accepts in the booking engine, go to Payments > Accepted payments.

  • For all third-party payment gateways, you will need to set up accepted cards, fees and surcharges on the gateway.

In addition to credit cards, what other payment methods are available?

If you require a Deposit at the time of booking, in addition to credit cards, you can choose to accept the following additional payment methods for your booking engine:

  • Apple Pay — unavailable if your booking engine is embedded into a website.

  • Google Pay

  • iDEAL — available in Europe (excluding the UK).

⚠️ Apple Pay is not available if your booking engine is embedded into a website.

If a payment is made using other payment methods, can I charge it again for future payments?

Other payment methods such as digital wallets can only be used via your booking engine when a Deposit (or full payment) is required at the time of booking. The payment details will not be stored, so Other payment methods cannot be used for future payments.

If a Deposit has been processed with additional payment methods for a partial amount of the reservation, you can send a payment request to the guest to ask them to complete a payment using an accepted payment card for the remaining reservation balance.

Why am I seeing a prompt to provide additional verification information?

After enabling additional payment methods, you may be required to provide additional verification information. Follow the prompt on the page to complete this verification.

When will the option to pay via other payment methods appear for guests?

Guests will see the option to pay via Other payment methods, if it is available in the country they are located in, and when they are using a compatible device.

Can I apply a surcharge to credit cards and other payment methods?

Yes, you can add a surcharge to credit cards and other payment methods (which must comply with local regulations) by entering the percentage number into the Percentage field in Payments > Accepted payments.

Please note that surcharges from credit cards and Other payment methods only apply to your booking engine, when a Deposit is required at the time of booking. Surcharges will not apply to Automated payments or payment requests.

What else do I need to do to accept Apple Pay and Google Pay?

If Apple Pay and Google Pay are enabled in your booking engine, you must add a privacy statement in your property’s Terms, conditions and privacy policy. Please note, your privacy statement must comply with your local privacy laws.

To update your Terms, conditions and privacy policy, go to Property Settings > Policies > Terms, conditions and privacy policy.

Are there any additional fees for using other payment methods?

No, there are no additional fees for using Other payment methods such as digital wallets; however, transaction fees apply to all payment methods.

How will I know which payments were made using certain payment methods?

Go to Payments > Transactions tab. Under the Payment method column, you will be able to see the payment method used.

In Reservations, when viewing a reservation, you can also view payment methods there.

How do I process a refund for a non-credit card payment?

Simply follow the normal process. Go to Payments > Transactions tab > find and open a reservation > click on Refund > enter the amount to refund > click on Process refund.
