How SiteMinder delivers reservations for unmapped rates to a supported PMS
If your property is connected to a supported PMS (currently only Mews), SiteMinder delivers reservations for unmapped rates to your PMS. If your PMS is not yet supported, these reservations are not sent to your PMS and you'll continue to receive an e-mail alert instead.
When a guest books an unmapped rate, a rate that isn't linked to a room type, rate plan, or room rate in your SiteMinder platform, SiteMinder doesn't know which room type or rate plan the reservation belongs to. If you're connected to a supported PMS, this reservation reaches your PMS.
Supported property management systems (PMS)
This feature is available only for properties connected to a supported PMS.
Mews is currently the only supported PMS.
What happens to a reservation with an unmapped rate
If your property is connected to a supported PMS, every confirmed reservation, whether the rate is mapped or not, is sent to your PMS and appears in your PMS connectivity delivery history:
Full visibility: see every confirmed booking, not just the ones with a resolved room rate mapping.
Reduced overbooking exposure: once your PMS processes the delivered reservation, your availability updates there and syncs back to SiteMinder.
One place to manage reservations: manage every reservation in your PMS instead of reading and reconciling an e-mail alert.
If your PMS is not yet supported, reservations for unmapped rates are not sent through, and you'll continue to receive an e-mail alert.
What's missing from a reservation with an unmapped rate
When a rate isn't mapped, SiteMinder can't confirm which room type or rate plan the reservation belongs to, so these details are omitted from the reservation sent to your PMS. Your PMS then either leaves the room type and rate plan blank or assigns a default.
For Mews for example: Mews assigns a default rate to the reservation, and creates the reservation under a default space category
If the unmapped rate is not mapped intentionally because it comes from a wholesaler managed directly between the wholesaler and your property, SiteMinder will now also send these reservations to your PMS under a default room type and rate. If you already load these bookings in your PMS through your own process, the same booking can appear in your PMS twice. There is no automatic way to reconcile the two.
Will old dropped reservations be sent to my PMS now?
No. This only applies to reservations made after this capability went live for your property on a supported PMS. If your unmapped-rate reservation was created before then, it won't be backfilled or redelivered to your PMS, and you'll need to check the original e-mail alert for the booking and update inventory manually.
How you're alerted to a reservation that needs mapping
When a reservation is delivered to a supported PMS with missing room type or rate plan information, your PMS should alert you to map the missing room rate.
For Mews for example: Mews assigns a default rate plan and/or room type to the reservation and sends you an urgent e-mail notification prompting you to map the correct rate plan or room type and reassign the reservation.
Reservations with multiple room stays
This applies separately to each room stay in a reservation delivered to a supported PMS. If one room stay has a valid room rate mapping and another doesn't, only the unmapped room stay is delivered without room type and rate plan details. The room stay with a valid mapping is delivered as normal.
Reservation delivery failure e-mails for unmapped rates
If your property is connected to a supported PMS, you'll no longer receive a "PMS notification failed/reservation for unmapped rates" e-mail from SiteMinder for reservations affected by an unmapped rate.
