Images are displayed on your booking engine and are shared with certain channels that support receiving images from our platform.

Important to know:

  • Your property’s images will be displayed on your booking engine and on the channels you connect to on Channels Plus. They will also be shared with certain channels that support receiving images from our platform (such as Airbnb).

  • To upload, edit, or delete an image in your Media library, go to your property name > Property settings > Media library.

The importance of images

Images are usually the first thing a guest will look at when deciding to book accommodation, so great photos are essential to make a great first impression.

Images help grab your potential guests’ attention and give them a clear idea of what they can expect, giving them confidence to book your property.

Images should showcase your property’s best features and unique offerings, inside and out. Include images of your property’s exterior, rooms, as well as any close up images of unique features and amenities. Don’t forget to include bathroom images too.

Take great photos

You don’t need a professional photographer to take photos of your property. Here are some tips to help you take the best shots.

  • Before you start taking photos, ensure everything is clean and tidy. Make the beds and clear clutter off surfaces.

  • Show your property in the best light! Use natural light, if possible, and avoid flash.

  • Use angles to maximise space: squeeze into corners, take shots from different heights, and get close-ups if needed.

  • Be wary of mirrors; undesired reflections can easily ruin a good photo.

  • If possible, use a licensed drone to capture impressive photographs of your property’s exterior.

  • Pick a clear day to take photos of any views your rooms have.

  • Take photos of your bathroom(s) and any bathroom amenities you provide. Don’t forget to close the toilet lid and avoid any reflections in the mirror.

Upload images

Your property’s images will be displayed on your booking engine and on the channels you connect to on Channels Plus. They will also be shared with certain channels that support receiving images from our platform (such as Airbnb).

In your Media library, upload images of your property and room types.

If you are using SiteMinder’s booking engine, the Media library is also where you can upload your booking engine’s banner image, the header and footer image for your guest e-mails, and images of any Extras.

To upload images to your Media library:

  1. Click on your property name > Property settings > Media library.

  2. Click into the relevant tab (category) that you want to load the image(s) into: All, Property, Room types, Extras, Guest communications or Floor plans.

  3. Click on the Upload images button, or drag and drop files from your device.

The recommended image dimensions are:

  • Images: 2560px width and 1500px height.

  • Banner image: 2560px width and 600px height.

  • Header and footer images: 600px width and 210px height.

Assign images

Once you have uploaded images to your Media library, check they are assigned to the relevant section (i.e. category).

Make sure you assign images to each room type to highlight a room’s unique features. We recommend assigning at least 3 images to each room type (don’t forget one of the bathroom!).

To assign images to the relevant section, follow the below steps:

  1. Select the image(s) and wait for the checkmark(s) to appear.

  2. Click on the Assign image button in the top right corner above your library.

  3. Click on the down arrows next to the category you want to assign the image to.

  4. Select the relevant section(s).

  5. Click Save.

Note:

  • If you want to display an image in multiple sections — for example, you want the image to appear under both the Property and Room types section on your booking engine — you can simply assign the image to both sections.

  • You can only assign images to Guest communications if e-mail notifications have been enabled, otherwise the e-mail notifications will be greyed out.

Image description

Once an image exists in your Media library, you can add a description to the image to help people with vision impairments. Note, this text will not be displayed to your guests; it is used by screen reader software to translate media content into synthetic speech.

To add an Image description, click on the image’s edit button, then enter a description in the ‘Image description’ field.

Delete an image

To delete an image:

  1. Click on your property name in the top right corner > Property settings > Media library.

  2. Hover over the image and click on the image’s edit button.

  3. Click the Delete image button.

Deleting an image will permanently remove it from any sections it is assigned to. Deleting an image is permanent and cannot be undone.
