Set up your property location
You can set up your property location in My Apps > Website Builder under Property location in Dashboard > Property details.
Use the Search address field to find your address. The Website Builder will update the location pin on the map based on the address you select.
If the pin is not quite right, you can click and drag the pin to the correct position, even if Google Maps can’t find the exact address.
If the searched address shows the correct pin location but not the correct address format, you can manually adjust the address fields underneath the search address field.
Click Save when you have updated the information.
When editing your website, the map shown in Property details uses Google Maps. On preview and on your published website, the default map is an open‑source map. If you wish to display Google Maps on your live site, you must add a valid Google Maps API key to Website Builder.
What is the Google Maps API key?
By default, Website Builder uses open‑source maps on your website pages. If you prefer to use Google Maps, you need a Google Maps API key to load Google Maps on your website.
A Google Maps API key is a unique code that:
Identifies your website to Google Maps
Tracks how often maps on your site are viewed (usage)
Connects that usage to your Google Cloud billing account (Google may charge you if usage exceeds their free monthly credits)
You need a Google account and must enable billing with a credit card in Google Cloud to have a valid key.
How to get a Google API key
To use Google Maps on your website, you must obtain and manage your own Google Maps API key directly with Google.
You will need:
A Google account
Billing enabled in Google Cloud (Google may charge you if your usage exceeds their free monthly credits)
Website Builder does not create or manage this key for you. You must set up your own key and billing directly with Google. For details about Google’s terms, pricing, usage limits and key setup, refer to Google's User Guide.
Add the Google Maps API key to Website Builder
Once you have created and configured your Google Maps API key in your Google Cloud account:
In Website Builder, go to Advanced Settings → Google Maps.
Paste your Google Maps API key into the field.
Click Save.
Click Publish Changes.
You should now see Google Maps on your Home, Contact Us, and Attractions pages.
If the key is invalid or stops working, Google Maps will not load on your published website.
If you leave the Google Maps API key field blank, your website will use the default open‑source maps instead.
Map shows on preview but not on the published website
The Google Maps API key is linked to a specific domain. When you preview your website, you are viewing it through a SiteMinder domain that uses SiteMinder’s own API key. This is why the map can show in preview even if your own key is incorrect or missing.
If the map does not show on the published site:
Check the Google Maps API key under Advanced Settings → Google Maps. It may be invalid, misconfigured or has stopped working.
Correct or remove the key if needed.
To return to the default open‑source map, remove the API key under Advanced Settings → Google Maps and leave the field blank.
