Restrict your promo codes by applying inventory restrictions (such as a MinLOS) to your direct booking rates.

Promo codes set up in Direct booking > Promotion codes can only be used with your SiteMinder booking engine. Your other channels (OTAs) may have their process to set up promo codes/discounts — please contact the channel directly.

Stay and sell date restrictions are configured when creating a promo code, but if you need to set any other restrictions such as a minimum length of stay, or CTA/CTD, you will need to set up the restrictions for the direct booking rate via the Inventory grid.

How to apply restrictions such as minimum length of stay to promo codes

If you want to create a promo code with restrictions (such as to apply a minimum length of stay), apply restrictions to the direct booking rate. Follow these steps:

  1. Create a new room rate in Rooms and Rates > Rate plans that will be linked to a promotion code.

  2. Add that room rate to Direct booking.

  3. Edit the direct booking rate to enable the “Restrict rate” setting if you only want the rate to show on your booking engine if a customer enters the assigned promotion code.

  4. Set up restrictions for the direct booking rate, such as a minimum length of stay, or CTA/CTD, via the Inventory grid.

  5. Create the promo code in Direct booking > Promotion codes and select the room rates it will apply to. Add any sell date or stay date restrictions.

Restrict a rate to a promo code

You can make sure a rate only shows on your booking engine and can only be booked if the assigned promo code is entered. To do this, turn on the "Restrict rate" toggle when editing the Direct booking rate. If this toggle is switched off, the room rate will be visible to all customers on your booking engine.

To ensure a direct booking rate only shows and can only be booked if the assigned promo code is entered, follow these steps:

  1. Create a new room rate that will be linked exclusively to a promotion code.

  2. Add that room rate to Direct booking.

  3. Once added, find the Direct booking rate and click on it.

  4. Click Edit.

  5. Turn on the Restrict rate toggle.

  6. Create a promotion code and assign it to the same room rate.

You can also choose to hide any other rates not attached to the promo code, when a promo code is entered on your booking engine. To enable this setting, go to Direct booking > Configuration > Guest display options > Room availability display > tick Hide public rates when a promotion code is applied.
